Faith and Family: these words best describe Kevin Mabry, a Christian artist whose singing and down home messages bring the Gospel to audiences across the country.
His faith in our Lord Jesus Christ has taken him from over 20 successful years in the country music business with his band, Liberty Street-performing with such artists as The Statler Brothers, Alabama, the Oak Ridge Boys- to following his heart to sing and minister for the Lord.
As Kevin says,"One always has the hope of being a successful Christian artist-not for the fame or fortune, but to be so successful that your music brings inspiration and touches the hearts of those who hear it."
This Ohio native, who since 1979 has been a regular member of the Wheeling Jamboree ( the oldest music radio show in the United States), is a self taught musician and songwriter. When Kevin was 13, he received his first guitar for Christmas. With the help of his grandfather, a professional musician, he learned to play and a music career became his dream.
After accepting Jesus Christ as his personal savior during The Walk to Emmaus, a spirtual growth weekend, the glitter of the country music stage gradually began to fade.
With the support fo his Christian community and family, he came to the decision in 1989 to completely devote his music to the Gospel of Christ.
Kevin supported by his wife Nancy of 25 years and daughters Katie and Chelsey, pursues his music ministry through the sales of his recordings and personal appearances. Katie and Chelsey also are featured as vocalists on many of Kevin's albums as well as in various concert settings. Kevin travels to various churches and concert settings to share Christ's
message of grace, commitment, forgiveness and personal relationship.
Kevin was the orginator and music coordinator for the Gospel and Country Music Pavilions at the Ohio State Fair from 1982-1991 and was instrumental in getting Gospel Music in front of the main entertainment grandstand.
Kevin recorded 4 albums during his career in country music and in 1989 released his first Gospel album entitled "Commitment of the Heart". He has since released 7 other albums that include his newest release entitled "When You Say Your Prayers". Each recording reflects a down-to-earth ministry of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the joy from that relationship. The albums are recorded in Nashville, Tn. using top studio musicians and produced by Vic and Toni Clay, who have produced other recordings for the Cathedrals, Lulu Roman,The Melody Boys and many others.
Kevin recently appeared on Gary McSpadden's Gospel Jubilee TV Show from Silver Dollar City, in Branson, Missouri. The show was broadcast nationwide on the Family Net Network and featured todays top Gospel artists from across the U.S.
Kevin also has been a featured artist on many evangelical events in Cincinnati, Columbus, Waverly and Dayton, Ohio and Nashville, TN. He is also receiving a great deal of airplay from his recordings in various parts of the country on Christian radio stations.
